Foundation and giving
Established in 1999, the Marianopolis Millennium Foundation is the College’s registered charity that provides funds for student bursaries, financial aid and scholarships, academic program development and enrichment, and campus infrastructure and equipment. The level of financial support provided to students is among the most generous in the Quebec college network, thanks to annual donations from parents, alumni and friends of Marianopolis.
The Mark Chartrand Law Scholarship: Supporting Students Through Major Transitions
After graduating from Marianopolis in 1979, I made the leap directly into McGill University’s Faculty of Law.
While the transition from college to one of the top law schools in Canada was a daunting endeavour, the guidance and support I received during my time at Marianopolis from Philosophy and Humanities professor, Christine Overall, helped prepare me for the challenge.
The influence of Professor Overall on my life and career inspired me to establish a scholarship for Marianopolis students who – as I did more than 40 years ago – make the jump from the College directly to a university faculty of law in Quebec or Ontario.
Class of 2023 graduate Devon Mansour was selected as the first recipient of the scholarship. Devon is pursuing his studies at the McGill Faculty of Law, after graduating from the Marianopolis Social Science program with a Scholar distinction. He also earned the Social Science Award for Achievement in Business and was named a co-winner of the Elizabeth Mahoney Award for generosity and selfless contributions within and outside of the College.
I had the opportunity to meet virtually with Devon, and offered him some tips and insight from my own 35 plus years of practice as a tax lawyer and partner at two major Canadian firms. I was delighted to hear that Devon will use the scholarship to cover some of the costs associated with a semester-long university exchange program he hopes to complete during his degree.
The College is fortunate to count on inspiring professors who work diligently to ensure graduating students are well-equipped to successfully transition to top university programs. The impact of their dedication to student success can be tracked across decades and entire careers.

Your gift helps Marianopolis talent flourish
I’m a recent Marianopolis graduate who benefitted from scholarships and awards from the College and I can attest to the immensely positive impact they can have on a student’s trajectory.
As I prepared to embark on my university studies in commerce with the aim of one day helping reform regulatory frameworks, I was immensely grateful and honoured to receive the Excellence in Finance Graduation Award, offered by the College and The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation. It signaled that the institution believed in me and was willing to invest in my goals and ambitions, to empower me with confidence and a sense of community that I had witnessed first-hand during my two years at Marianopolis.
The financial support was crucial to me and many of my fellow graduates. It helped me cover university expenses and afforded me the flexibility to explore my interests and take on new projects.
I encourage you to give to The Marianopolis Millennium Foundation. By contributing to one of the many scholarships, bursary funds or to its greatest area of need, your support will allow students to benefit from the enriching Marianopolis experience and to pursue their academic and professional goals. Your generous gift today will have an impact for years to come.
